Eligibility
The competition is open to artists 18 and older. Original art conceived and created by the entrant, will be considered. Employees of SLAC&G will not be eligible. Previous entries and award winning pieces are not eligible.
Registration Begins July 1, 2017
Award winning art from previous shows may not be entered. Finalists must prepare to attend the ceremony on Friday, September 8, 2017 in order to receive awards, or have a representative attend to receive an award for you. Non-represented winners will forfeit to an alternate winner.

Or, request an application in person at 104 Industrial Blvd., Suite Q, Sugar Land, TX 77478. Call the main number 281-565-0957 prior to dropping in with CD’s and applications. We are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you need to drop it off an application on Saturday, call 281-565-0957 for an appointment.
DO NOT deliver any art to the gallery until you are contacted by Sugar Land Art Center. Finalists will be asked to bring in those entries that were pre-juried as finalists. DO NOT bring in your paintings when you walk-in an application. Failure to follow this guideline will result in disqualification. What we can accept
- Entries on canvas no larger than 48”wide by 48” tall
- Framed paintings under Plexiglas
- 3-D Mounted Relief Art - Multi-media, sculpted or rescued metal sculpture
- 3D entries must be less than 50 lbs. in weight
- Finalists are selected via online entries therefore all entries must be Jpeg entries and they need to be at least 300 dpi in resolution.
- Entries must be properly cropped and orientated in a Landscape or Portrait format
- Framed Art may be entered with the frame included in the image
- All entries must be for sale (No NFS entries)
- Previous Award winners may not be entered again
- All originals in all mediums (giclee` prints cannot be accepted)
- Finalists’ entries must be dry and secure on the day of delivery
Expectations
Finalists may be qualified to receive one prize level.
Artists may deliver a flash drive/CD and application in person to the Competition Committee.

- Mailed entries must include a separate sheet that includes the image, title, medium and the dimensions of each image.
- All mailed digital files submitted on a CD must include the Application Form. File names of the images on the CD must match the titles on the application form.
Fees and Payment
The entry fee for each applicant is $30 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry. There is no limit on the number of entries submitted. One payment may cover multiple entries for each artist. Artists may enter online at www.sugarlandartcenter.org. Sugar Land Art Center & Gallery will not be responsible for the loss, damage or return of any CDs submitted to the competition. There will be no refunds of entry fees. Images may not be retouched, enhanced or further painted after they are submitted to the competition. They must match the actual painting or 3D entry. Doing alterations after entering the competition can result in disqualification. Substitution entries are not accepted for a different painting after registration.
ALL FINALISTS WILL BE NOTIFIED between August 20 & 21. Winners will be featured in the Sugar Land Art Center Galleries for the month of September, 2017. A reception will feature the finalists and celebrate the winners via announcement during the reception. Sales of art during the month of September will be processed by SLAC&G. A 30% commission from all sales will be retained by SLAC&G, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Proceeds will cover prizes, publicity, expenses and future juried events.

Artist Finalists: important
- Entries must be wired using D-hooks for hanging.
- Unframed gallery wrapped canvases must have finished edges & MUST be wired with D-hooks for hanging.
- Finalists requiring matting and framing must frame under Plexiglas (Exception: pastels or charcoal drawings).
- Art must be clean and free of rusting wires and D-hooks & dust.
- It is preferred but not absolutely required that art be framed in a 2” to 3” wide wood molding in black, brown or white due to weight limitations of the current hanging system in the gallery.
- Loose wires and hardware must not be visible when the art hangs.
- Saw-tooth only hardware is not permitted.
- The Gallery Staff or gallery committee will not repair wires or add wires on entries.
- Pedestals will be provided for 3D finalists.
- Please let the Competition Committee know in advance if another artist/family member will deliver and pick up your entry(s).
- Please notify Sugar Land Art Center & Gallery if your art will be delivered & picked up via courier.
- Please contact the Competition Committee if you will not be able to attend the awards event.
- All art must be picked up at the end of the exhibit on September 28 through September 30.
