Meet Kristal
I was born and raised in Texas, the great state from which I draw much of my artistic inspiration.
Creating and appreciating artwork has always been something very near and dear to my heart. I have been making some form of artwork ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. When other children were setting up lemonade stands, I set up art stands. I sold my first piece of artwork on a sidewalk.
I am inspired by bright colors, textures, nature, and the Texas coast. My favorite childhood memory is fishing with my parents. I have fond memories of beaches, bass fishing, and inshore saltwater fishing. Every time I set foot near a body of water, I feel like I’m seven all over again.
My goal is to continue creating, and to help others tap into their creativity, thus making the world a brighter place... one piece of artwork at a time.
Meet James
J.C. Gill II is a Fine Art & Portraiture Artist. He primarily works in oils, charcoal and pastel. His work centers on the portrait painting and the human form capturing the essence of his subjects in a narrative setting.
J.C. began his formal education as an artist by attending Texas A&M-Commerce, majoring in Commercial Art with a minor in Fine Art. After 3 years he continued those studies at the Art Institute of Houston receiving his associates degree.
For the next 30 plus years, J.C. continued his professional career creating high-end designs and illustrations in the print industry. He also maintained his skills and passion for portraiture by creating portrait commissions. Improving on his skills for painting portraits J.C. studied the approach of some of the worlds leading portrait artists. His understanding of the traditional approach to painting, combined with his experience as a graphic designer, helped him to create his unique style. When creating his portraits, J.C. applies a collage of shapes, color and form filling in the space of a narrative composition.
J.C. has created several public and private commissions for families, individuals, and business clients. He has developed his own style of capturing the unique personality of his subjects. Each subject that he paints is like taking a new journey, a never-ending process of inspiration.
Meet Ruth
Ruth specializes in both Watercolors and large Acrylic Abstracts. “They are so freeing to create.”
Since a neighbor introduced Ruth to drawing and painting as a child, she has always found happiness through the art of others and her own ability to convey delight to others through her art.
With subjects varying from elephants, Texas boots and burnt Colorado forests to abstract canvases with many messages, her talents are now concentrated on large, room beautifying abstract canvases. Her most recognizable and popular canvasses are her “Boots” which she now paints only by commission.
Stubenrouch learned composition, perspective and design from her teacher, Caroline Graham, as well as professional watercolor techniques. She has also studied under world-famous Steven Quiller of Creede, Colorado. Her techniques were furthered by Lani Anderson at the Sugar Land Art Center and Gallery, where she was introduced to acrylic painting.
Stubenrouch’s fascination with abstract acrylics is apparent in all of her current offerings. She enjoys the freedom when creating a large acrylic abstract. “My art makes me smile,” she says.
She is a member of the Watercolor Art Society of Houston and the Sugar Land Area Artists, Ruth has entered many competitions and was selected to be on the “Galveston Art Walk” twice as the featured artist at the Tremont Hotel.
